Scientology Assists

Assists are very very simple Scientology processes. Any adult and most children except for very young ones, can learn to give assists.

They are enorously helpful.

Here's a story of a very young girl who learned how to give assists:

PERM, RUSSIA: When an 8-year old of this Ural mountains city learned about the Scientology Volunteer Ministers, it was not the first time she wanted to help others.

But it was the first time she learned how.

After she studied the simple but powerful technique of delivering Scientology assists, the young girl began helping much older people, who visited the Volunteer Minister tent in search of relief from the pain and suffering they were experiencing.

Assists are techniques developed by L. Ron Hubbard. They operate on the principle that one tends to withdraw mentally or spiritually from an injured area. Only by restoring communication with this area can one bring the spiritual element into healing, thereby greatly speeding the healing process. Assists are used to alleviate stress and physical aches and pains, or to orient a confused or distraught individual to his present environment.

Another Scientology principle is that children are not to be treated as though they are inferior — rather, Scientologists treat children with respect, decency and kindness.

In a chapter of the Scientology Handbook called "Children", L. Ron Hubbard states:

"You have no right to deny your child the right to contribute.

"A human being feels able and competent only so long as he is permitted to contribute as much or more than he has contributed to him."

The chapters of the Scientology Handbook have been published as booklets. These are studied by every Scientology Volunteer Minister, so that they become well-versed in the handling of life's everyday problems. They are simple enough to be understood by children, and it's no surprise when the kids want to help, too.

After all — a small child can make a big impact.
