Child Dianetics
The figures of how many kids are considered ADHD or ADD today are terrifying. All those kids being put on amphetamines to control their behavior!
And it is particularly tragic that what gets called ADHD is really normal childhood behavior, and the child can be helped so easily.
Child Dianetics is a very simple book. The techniques in it are simple and easy to learn.
And they are remarkably effective.

VM Fan
I like the fact that the Scientology Press Office has a section about the VMs that they update all the time.

Mexican Scientologists Anti-Drug Campaign
"With an estimated 1.2 million children trafficked each year for exploitative labor or sex slavery, over 300,000 child soldiers — some as young as 8, and 115 million primary school-aged children denied any formal education whatsoever, the international community needs to become far more effective in ensuring the basic human rights to which children are entitled."
It goes on to talk about the efforts of Youth for Human Rights International and their presentation to the UN about their public service announcements.
The photo above is from one of the public service announcements. Cute, eh?

Helping Kids say No to Drugs in Hungary
It's been said that kids are our most precious natural resource, and that is so true.
Drugs have become more and more prevalent in society, and children at younger and younger ages are exposed to them.
Anything you can do to help kids say no to drugs is worth the time and effort.
A few years ago, at the Grand Opening of the Church of Scientology of San Francisco, David Miscavige, Chairman of the Board of Religious Technology Center spoke of a shift of emphasis the of the Scientology religion in light of the terror attacks of 9/11.
He said:
"Two years ago we launched massive new programs on several fronts. While the world spoke of terrorism and the immediate military response, we recognized those acts of devastation as but a mere symptom of the greater illnesses plaguing man.
The Church of Scientology International has published literally millions of anti-drug booklets in 20 languages. If you would like copies, contact the Church. Contact information is available at the Scientology Press Office web site or the Scientology anti-drug site.

Scientology Assists
They are enorously helpful.
Here's a story of a very young girl who learned how to give assists:
PERM, RUSSIA: When an 8-year old of this Ural mountains city learned about the Scientology Volunteer Ministers, it was not the first time she wanted to help others.
But it was the first time she learned how.
After she studied the simple but powerful technique of delivering Scientology assists, the young girl began helping much older people, who visited the Volunteer Minister tent in search of relief from the pain and suffering they were experiencing.
Assists are techniques developed by
Another Scientology principle is that children are not to be treated as though they are inferior — rather, Scientologists treat children with respect, decency and kindness.
In a chapter of the Scientology Handbook called "Children",
"You have no right to deny your child the right to contribute.
"A human being feels able and competent only so long as he is permitted to contribute as much or more than he has contributed to him."
The chapters of the Scientology Handbook have been published as booklets. These are studied by every Scientology Volunteer Minister, so that they become well-versed in the handling of life's everyday problems. They are simple enough to be understood by children, and it's no surprise when the kids want to help, too.
After all — a small child can make a big impact.Tuesday, September 19, 2006
Helping Others by Happy
"the overcoming of not unknown obstacles toward a known goal and, transiently (passing quickly or soon), the contemplation of, or indulgence in, pleasure."
If you use this definition in helping people, it becomes real help.
Rather than help someone work out how to avoid work, or get away with things -- help them get into things.
If this doesn't make complete sense to you, try something out as an experiment.
Spot something you want to accomplish that forwards your own survival and the survival of your family and friends.
Work out something you can do to move yourself closer to accomplishing it.
Now go out and do it.
Check it out of a dose of happiness.

Helping People
It's just one more point where I completely see eye to eye with his own personal views of life:
"I like to help others and count it as my greatest pleasure in life to see a person free himself of the shadows which darken his days."
And, of course, what Mr. Hubbard did in discovering and communicating and Scientology technology has made it possible for anyone to learn to really help his fellow man and return to him the dignity and self-respect each member of the human family truly deserves.
Wow. I certainly waxed poetic there!

Permitting Children to Help
L. Ron Hubbard has a great article on this in the Scientology Handbook. It is called "Allowing Children to Work."
This is a photo of a young girl form Perm (in Russia). It was published on the Scientology Press Office web site.

Help from his Dad
As a Scientologist it's not surprising to me to hear of the kinds of miracle gains people have from Scientology and Dianetics counseling, but this is a terrific example of how it can apply to all kinds of situations in life -- like improving your game as a goalie!
